Challenges Transportation Businesses Face

  • Where Is My Freight

Customers phone for updates, and dispatch phones the driver to find out.

  • Dispatch on a Board

The plan lives in one person head and falls apart the week they are away.

  • Slow Proof of Delivery

Signed paperwork arriving days later, so invoicing waits and cash flow slips.

  • Empty Return Miles

Return legs run empty because nobody can see what freight is available nearby.

  • Compliance Paperwork

Hours, inspections and manifests handled after the fact rather than as they happen.

  • Unmeasured Detention

Time lost waiting at docks that never reaches an invoice or a rate review.

  • Systems Left Alone

Software still running because replacing it looks like the risk.

  • Work Done by Hand

Rekeying and chasing that quietly eats most of a week.

  • Enquiries Missed

Traffic arrives, reads a page for the wrong buyer, leaves.

  • Split Data

Two systems holding one figure and no agreement which wins.

  • Compliance Informal

Rules you are audited against, handled by whoever remembers.

Common Questions

Logistics Software Questions, Answered

Can our customers track their own freight?

Yes, and it is usually the change that dispatch notices first. Shippers see status, appointment windows and the delivery record in a signed-in portal instead of phoning for an update. The calls that remain tend to be the ones that genuinely need a person, which is the right outcome.

Will the driver app work where there is no coverage?

Yes. The app holds the load details a driver needs, lets them record status, inspections, photographs and signatures offline, then syncs when coverage returns. Loading bays and northern routes are where signal fails, so this is designed for rather than treated as an edge case.

Do we have to replace our TMS?

Almost never, and we would treat that as a last resort. The usual answer is to read from the transport system and the telematics already in the trucks, because the data mostly exists and the problem is reaching it in a usable form. Replacing a TMS is disruptive and rarely the actual fix.

How much faster can we invoice with electronic POD?

That depends on how long paperwork currently takes to reach the office, which for most carriers is somewhere between two days and a week. Capturing the signature and photographs at the dock means billing can begin the same hour, and that gap is pure working capital rather than a small efficiency.

Can it help with hours of service and CVOR records?

It can capture and organise the records, which is where most of the lost time sits: logs, pre-trip inspections, incidents and cross-border documents held against the trip and searchable later. We are not your compliance advisor, so the rules themselves should be confirmed with your safety lead.

Our drivers are not keen on new technology. Will they use it?

Only if it is faster than what it replaces, so that is the test we design to. Big targets, few taps, and no data entry that the system could work out for itself. We run the walkthrough with drivers rather than only with the office, because they decide whether it gets used.

Can we actually measure detention time?

Yes, from arrival and departure recorded at the stop rather than remembered afterwards. Once it is measured you can bill for it where the contract allows, or take it into the next rate conversation with evidence. Most operators know detention is costing them and have never been able to show how much.

What support is there once it is live?

A support arrangement covering fixes, updates and small changes, with response times that suit an operation running outside office hours. Lanes, customers and equipment change constantly in this business, so we expect the system to keep moving rather than treating each change as a new project.
