What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. It lets the site remember something between requests — that a form was started, or that you are signed in. Cookies can be set by the site you are visiting, or by a third party whose content is embedded in the page.
Our position, in short
Browsing this website sets no cookies. If you read pages here without submitting a form or signing in to an account, your browser is not asked to store anything, and we are not tracking you.
We use no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies, no remarketing pixels and no social media tracking on this site.
The cookies that can be set
Strictly necessary
These are set only when you take an action that needs them. They exist to make that action work, not to observe you.
- Form security and session cookies. When you interact with a form, the website and its form software may set a short-lived cookie to validate that the submission came from a real session on our site rather than an automated attack, and to preserve what you typed if the page reloads. These expire when you close your browser, or shortly after.
- Authentication cookies. If you sign in to the WordPress administration area — relevant only to our own staff, not to visitors — cookies keep you signed in and record your screen preferences.
Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent under Canadian, European or UK rules, because the service you asked for cannot be delivered without them.
Third-party requests from comments
Profile pictures next to blog comments are served by Gravatar, operated by Automattic Inc. Loading that image is a request to Automattic’s servers, which reveals your IP address and browser to them, and they may set their own cookies as part of serving it. This happens only on article pages that display comments. See automattic.com/privacy.

How to control cookies
Because we set no cookies for ordinary browsing, there is nothing here for you to opt out of. If you want to manage cookies generally, every major browser lets you view, block and delete them:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies
- Safari: Settings → Privacy
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop our contact forms from submitting successfully.
Most browsers also offer a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no agreed standard for how sites should respond to it. Since we do not track visitors across sites in the first place, our behaviour is the same either way.
If this changes
If we add analytics, appointment booking, embedded video, live chat or any other feature that sets cookies, we will update this page before or as that feature goes live, and add a consent banner where consent is legally required. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
