Challenges Nonprofits Face

  • Donations Abandoned

Giving forms that ask for too much or break on a phone at the final step.

  • Split Supporter Data

The mailing list and the donor database disagree about the very same person.

  • Manual Receipting

Tax receipts issued by hand, which is slow and surprisingly easy to get wrong.

  • Grant Reporting

Every funder report rebuilt from spreadsheets that live on someone laptop.

  • Volunteer Admin

Sign-ups, shifts and volunteer hours tracked across email and paper sheets.

  • No Impact Numbers

Activity is recorded, but outcomes are hard to show when a funder actually asks.

  • Systems Left Alone

Software still running because replacing it looks like the risk.

  • Work Done by Hand

Rekeying and chasing that quietly eats most of a week.

  • Enquiries Missed

Traffic arrives, reads a page for the wrong buyer, leaves.

  • Split Data

Two systems holding one figure and no agreement which wins.

  • Compliance Informal

Rules you are audited against, handled by whoever remembers.

Platforms chosen so a team without an IT department can keep the site running long after launch.

Common Questions

Nonprofit Software Questions, Answered

Why do people abandon our donation form?

Usually because it asks for too much, does not work well on a phone, or sends the donor to a page that does not look like your site. Each of those loses gifts at the final step where intent is highest. We fix the flow first because it is the change with the clearest return.

Can it issue tax receipts that meet CRA requirements?

Yes, with the required information included and receipts stored against the donor record so they can be reissued without searching an inbox. We build to the current requirements and keep the wording in a field you control, and your finance lead should confirm it before launch.

We already pay for a donor CRM. Do we have to replace it?

No, and usually you should not. If the CRM works, the better project is connecting your site and giving flows to it so the supporter record stays whole. Replacing a CRM is disruptive for a small team and rarely the actual cause of the problem you are feeling.

How do we fit this into a nonprofit budget?

By scoping to the piece that returns the most first, which is nearly always the donation path and the supporter record. We quote in stages so the board approves something specific with a clear rationale, rather than a single figure that is hard to defend publicly.

Nobody here is technical. Can we maintain it ourselves?

That is a design requirement rather than an afterthought. Content, campaign pages and appeal targets are editable without a developer, and we record a walkthrough so knowledge does not sit with one staff member who may move on. Anything genuinely technical stays with us.

Our site was built by a volunteer years ago. Where do we start?

With an honest look at what is worth keeping. Often the content is fine and the platform is the problem, or the reverse. We will tell you which, and if a targeted fix would serve you better than a rebuild we will say so, because a rebuild you cannot maintain helps nobody.

Can it produce the reports our funders ask for?

Yes, provided the underlying data is being captured, which is normally the real gap. Once participants and outcomes are recorded as work happens, funder reports are generated rather than rebuilt each quarter, and the same figures appear the same way every time.

What support is available afterwards?

A support arrangement sized for a nonprofit budget, covering security updates, fixes and small changes. We would rather agree a modest ongoing arrangement than see a site drift out of date for three years and need replacing, which is the more expensive outcome.
