The Challenge

Three Cuisines and One Very Long Menu Had to Feel Easy to Choose From

Hakka Land needed a first website that could translate a broad fusion offering into a simple customer journey. The menu is the product, yet three cuisine families and four service modes create a lot to understand before a Scarborough diner is ready to order. Because orders are taken by phone, the website had to help people find the right dish, confirm the practical details and make the call without friction.

  • Three cuisine familiesHakka Chinese, Thai and Guyanese dishes needed distinct, understandable paths.
  • Four ways to order or dineDine-in, take-out, catering and delivery each change the information a customer needs.
  • A long menu on a small screenDish names, descriptions and categories had to stay legible and navigable on mobile.
  • Details that can changeLunch offers, hours, payment rules and delivery information needed visible homes.
  • A phone-led conversion pathThe website had to answer the basics and keep both ordering numbers within easy reach.

Project Overview

A New Restaurant Website Built Around Menu Discovery and Direct Ordering

Saiftec designed and developed Hakka Land’s new WordPress website from scratch. The experience connects a cuisine-led homepage with a searchable dine-in menu, an interactive take-out menu, a dedicated lunch special, a food gallery and the local information customers need before ordering or visiting.

  • Three cuisine pathwaysA clear entry point for Hakka Chinese, Thai and Guyanese choices.
  • Four service modesDine-in, take-out, catering and delivery are introduced as separate customer intentions.
  • Two menu formatsSearchable web content for browsing and an interactive PDF for take-out.
  • Local ordering essentialsPhone numbers, address, hours, payment details and location support the final decision.

Our Solution

Every Page Answers the Question That Comes Before an Order

The finished site routes customers from the restaurant’s three-cuisine promise to the exact information they need next. The full dine-in menu is readable web text; the take-out artwork opens in an interactive DearFlip viewer with a download; the lunch offer has its own page; real dish photography adds appetite appeal; and phone, hours, payment and location details reinforce the direct ordering path.

Outcomes

A Clearer Path From Craving to Menu Choice to Phone Order

  • Choices are easier to navigateCustomers can move from cuisine to category to dish without treating the full menu as one undifferentiated list.
  • Take-out content has a practical digital homeCustomers can browse or download the same published take-out menu from the website.
  • Specials are easier to evaluateLunch options and conditions sit together, reducing the need to piece offer details together.
  • The path to order stays directResponsive menu, contact and location information prepares customers for a phone order or visit.
The Challenge
For a restaurant the menu is the product, and this kitchen cooks three of them: Hakka Chinese, Thai and Guyanese. A visitor arrives wanting to know whether the dish they came for is on it. Orders are taken on the phone rather than on the site, which sets a hard limit on what the website should try to do: answer a few questions quickly, then get out of the way.
  • Three cuisines share one kitchen and one menu
  • The menu is the product, so it has to be legible
  • Orders are taken on the phone, not on the site
  • Dine in, take out, catering and delivery all differ
  • The printed takeaway sheet has to stay in step
  • Hours and payment rules get asked before ordering
  • A phone screen has to carry a very long menu

A Look at the Finished Work

Our Solution
The menu exists twice, on purpose. The dine-in menu is laid out as text, so a dish is readable on a phone and can be found in a search; the takeaway menu is the printed sheet itself in a page-turner, with a download, so the kitchen keeps one artwork current and the site follows. Everything else answers a question that comes before an order: the hours, the room, what the lunch special includes.
  • The full dine-in menu as text, not only a PDF
  • Takeaway sheet as a page-turner, with a download
  • Both numbers in the hero, at every screen width
  • Dine in, take out, catering, delivery as four doors
  • Hours and the payment rules stated on the page
  • A map on the location page rather than an address
  • The lunch special on its own page, with its terms
  • An Instagram feed keeps the page current
A page from the Hakka Land website: hakkaland.ca/menu/
  • Menu twice over

    Readable text and printed sheet

  • Number in the hero

Two lines, one tap on a phone

  • Map, not an address

A drawn map on the location page

  • Hours up front

    Asked before anything else

Outcomes

What Changed After Launch

  • Searchable dish by dish

The dine-in menu is real text, so a search for a named dish can land on it. A menu that exists only as a PDF is a picture as far as a search engine is concerned.

  • One artwork to keep current

The takeaway menu is the printed sheet, shown in a page-turner with a download, so the kitchen updates a single file and the website follows it.

  • The number is always in reach

Both lines sit in the hero and repeat down the page, which is what a site should do when the order is taken by a person rather than a form.

  • Answers before the order

Hours, the payment rules, the lunch special terms and a map of the room are all on the page, so a call can start at the order instead of the basics.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Saiftec build a restaurant website from scratch?

Yes. A new restaurant website can be planned around the way customers choose: cuisine, menu, service mode, special offers, location and the preferred ordering action. For Hakka Land, that meant building the full WordPress website around menu discovery and direct phone ordering.

Can a large restaurant menu stay readable on mobile?

Yes. The menu should be structured as web content with clear cuisine and category groupings, readable type and touch-friendly navigation. Hakka Land’s dine-in menu presents dishes as searchable text instead of relying only on a document download.

Can one website present dine-in and take-out menus differently?

Yes. Different menu formats can serve different customer needs. Hakka Land uses a web-native dine-in menu for browsing and an interactive, downloadable take-out menu that preserves the restaurant’s published artwork.

Can lunch specials, hours and ordering details be updated?

Yes. WordPress allows restaurant teams to revise page content as offers and operating details change. The Hakka Land website gives its lunch special a dedicated page and presents hours, payment information and delivery details where customers can find them.

Can direct phone ordering remain the main call to action?

Yes. A website does not need to force online checkout when the restaurant prefers to take orders by phone. The interface can keep tap-to-call numbers prominent while using the menu and service information to prepare customers before they call.

Can a restaurant website include maps, galleries and downloadable menus?

Yes. These elements can be integrated into the same responsive experience. Hakka Land combines a Leaflet-powered location map, a food gallery and a DearFlip-powered take-out menu with a PDF download option.
